Going Batty

Welcome again everyone!

I just received my first shipment of products from the upcoming Holiday Mini Catalog.  In that catalog (available for orders September 1, 2010-January 3, 2011) there are some wonderful Halloween goodies which I could not resist ordering.  I can’t wait to start playing around with the new things I received.  I will post some “Product Peeks” soon but for now today’s project shows you my Batty Halloween Tags using the Sweet Treat Cups.

I made these tags two-sided so I could include a fun sentiment  on the back.  Using the Whisper White Craft Ink on the Basic Black card stock has a nice look and doesn’t take away from the front design.  There’s even room to sign your name with a white gel pen!

I really had fun punching out all the bats and dusting them with some silver metallic powder (Perfect Pearls).  Using the bone folder against the card stock wings and your thumb make a nice soft curl.  The bat looks like he’s in motion.  Of course my bats needed a bit of bling to stand out from their other bat friends so I did use the new black jewels from the upcoming mini for a nice body accent.  More about those pretties in another upcoming project. .  I am so addicted to glitter and sparkle it’s embarrassing!!!   Stampin’ Dimensionals help hold the bats on very securely to the plastic Sweet Treat Cups.

The orange background is Tangerine Tango card stock with Basic Black Classic Ink bat images stamped onto it.  I punched it out with the 2-3/8″ Scallop Circle Extra Large Punch.  I adhered the Sweet Treat Cup onto that and then embellished the edges with layers of Designer Series Paper and plain card stock.   I was able to completely cover the exposed plastic edge of the Sweet Treat Cup by offsetting two layers of scallop edges.

Use the Paper Piercing Tool to punch through all the thicknesses of card stock and Sweet Treat Cup and then thread a piece of crochet cotton thread through it and tie a knot.  A super simple but entertaining look for the Halloween season.  I hope you’ll try these tags using any stamps you may have.  I’ll be happy to do a video on how to make these if anyone would like to see it step by step 🙂
