Product Peek #2 – Spooky Halloween Embellishment

Happy Sunday Everyone!

Today I am sharing a cute embellishment that can be put on any project for Halloween.

Below is a simple photo tutorial of how I made this project.

Step 1.  Cut 16″ of ribbon.  On this example I used 5/8″ Satin Ribbon in Old Olive from Stampin’ Up!  Sew the ends of the ribbon together with a 1/4″ seam allowance.  Do a basic basting stitch close to one side on the length of the entire ribbon circle.  Pull the thread end to gather the entire ribbon into a tighter circle shape.

Step 2.  Punch out a 2-3/8″ Scallop Circle from  Basic Black plain card stock.  *Note* I punched a second circle and adhered it to the back of the embellishment to cover the ribbon edges.  Punch out a 1-3/4″ Circle from Pear Pizzazz and stamp your image in the center using Basic Black Classic Ink.  This featured image is from the Wicked Cool Stamp Set.  Adhere the image to the Scallop Circle centering in all directions.

Step 3.  Hot glue the gathered ribbon to the back of the Scallop Circle. Adjust the gathers as you go so the length of the ribbon fits the circumference of the circle. You can also use Sticky Strip if you like but I prefer the stability of the hot glue.  Also hot glue the second scallop circle shape (if you chose to punch the second one as mentioned in Step 2) to the back covering the unfinished ribbon.

Step 4.  Run a line of Tombow Multi Liquid Glue around the edge of the punched image circle.

Step 4.  Generously sprinkle Chunky Essentials Stampin’ Glitter in Black over the glue.  Tap off the excess and let dry.

(Optional) Step 5. I also added a small bat to the edge of my embellishment.  To make the bat you will need to punch out one shape from the Bitty Bat Punch.  In this sample I used Nite Owl Designer Series Paper available September 1, 2010 in the Holiday Mini Catalog from Stampin’ Up! I added a safety-pin from the Vintage Trinkets.  I also bent up the bat wings and glued a small green bugle bead to highlight his body a bit more.  I adhered the bat with one Stampin’ Dimensional.  Add a glue dot to the back and adhere to your project.

Add this finished embellishment to cards, scrapbook projects, party favors.  Even add a long cocktail pick and insert in a drink for your Halloween party!   I hope you will try some….they are quick to make,
