I hope your Sunday is going well and you are enjoying it 🙂
Today I am doing my Idea Share with the beautiful color Regal Rose.
I really like the Sweet Set combination from the Color Coach.
The project today is making a super simple paper flower with the 2-3/8″ Extra Large Scallop Circle Punch.
- for an extra full flower for 3D projects use five flower layers.
- for a flatter flower for a card or scrapbook page use three flower layers.
Step 1. Punch out three Extra Large Scallop Circles in Regal Rose and two Extra Large Circles in Sahara Sand plain card stock.
Take your Paper Snips and make a cut going toward the flower center at each scallop indentation. The cut should be approximately 3/4″ long. Make cuts around the entire punched shape. Repeat the process on all five of the shapes. Use the Bone Folder and curve the petals downward for a more natural look. To see how to use the bone folder for this process please view my Pretty Paper Pansy video.
Step 2. Stack all the flower petal layers on top of each other, alternating card stock colors if you choose. Use the Paper Piercing Tool and Foam Mat from the Mat Pack and pierce a hole through all the paper layers in the center of the flower petals. Insert a small brad through all layers and spread the brad legs apart onto the back of the flower.
Step 3. Using Mini Glue Dots, add Designer Buttons, Glimmer Brads, Ribbon or even a small stamped image cut out for the flower center. Super simple and cute for any project! Fluff up the petal layers so they are not all in the same direction to make your paper flower have a more natural look.
OPTIONAL DESIGN. This is another flower design that I just love!
Step 1. In this sample I used three flower layers(picture shows only 2 flowers during the embossing step) in Tempting Turquoise plain card stock. I also dry embossed the layers with the Textured Impressions Embossing Folder titled Perfect Polka Dots . The simple dots design adds a nice effect making this flower spring to life on cards or scrapbook pages. *Note* I did not use a bone folder to bend down the petals on this design.
Step 2. Punch out five small flowers, from Tempting Turquoise plain card stock, using the flower from the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack punch set.
Step 3. Use a Glimmer Brad in Rose Red (available Sept. 1, 2010 in the new Holiday Mini Catalog). Adhere the 5 punched flower shapes around the brad using Tombow Multi adhesive. Gently bend up the petals throughout the layers to give dimension.
- Add stamp images onto the Scallop Circle punches and make your own designer paper!
- Add an inked edge
- Distress the edges of the flower.
- Add a sentiment from the center brad.
I hope you find these flowers a simple project that you can make work as an embellishment on any of your projects in the future.
