It’s Flower of the Month Time

Hi!

I did it!  I am now current with the Flower of the Month.  Thank you everyone for the lovely emails telling me not to worry.  It’s highly appreciated.  I never know when these hands may choose to stop working LOL!

Enough babble on my end….moving on to the new flower.  I designed a Blue Cornflower for this month.  I really enjoy using punches and trying to create a flower from their shapes.  I hope I succeeded today.

Below is a photo tutorial for the Blue Cornflower.  If you would like a more detailed how-to, I have included a video and the bottom of this post 🙂  I really appreciate your comments!

*Note* ALWAYS check in my video description box (located under the video).  I will be adding “giveaways” randomly throughout the year within my uploads.  I have a lot of goodies planned for you!

BLUE CORNFLOWER

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
Using white card stock, punch out a total of 12 shapes from the Modern Label Punch from Stampin’ Up!
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
Using the Prima Donna Petals Die-namics die, die cut out three of the small “stamen” shapes in purple card stock.
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
Paint on veins with Faded Jeans Distress Ink using a thin liner brush. Make the veins random.
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
Sponge on Faded Jeans Distress Ink to the front and back of each shape. Build up the color.
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
Snip through the petal edges as shown. Add a dark blue/purple chalk shade for added dimension.

This is what the completed petals should look like.

Layer all the petals upon each other one layer at a time, shifting the placement and adhere. Use a 1/2″ punched circle for the base and add the petal layers working toward the center.

Adhere the three stamens together and bend the outside edges up. Thread black embroidery floss through a tapestry needle and thread some strands up through the center. Secure with wet glue and trim for the final look.

These are the links for the punches and dies I used on today’s project.

I’d Appreciate Your Feedback

Happy Friday!

I have been pondering a big decision and I thought….Why not ask the question here on my blog before I decide?  I would love your input!

My question is:  Do you have an opinion regarding the company Close to My Heart?  If you have been or still are a consultant or have purchased products from them I’d love to hear about your experience.  Please let me know about the product quality, etc.  and also any pro’s and con’s.

I used to be a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator and I loved it but the problem was that I wasn’t personally loving the stamp designs any longer.  This is obviously subjective but that caused me to make this decision.   This post and rationale is not meant to insult Stampin’ Up! at all!    I’m just doing a bit of research 🙂

Any input is truly appreciated.  If I decide to become a consultant I will be adding a playlist to my YouTube channel and take you all along for the ride.  Thank you in advance for the input if you choose to comment,
