HI everyone!
I just finished the August Flower of the Month! I love it soooo much 🙂 I was inspired by the Wizard of Oz Poppy Field photo below.
It was a blast designing this one. I decided to make a basic red Poppy and I used red vellum. YES…vellum. The final look it very realistic. Of course you can also use a 65 lb. red card stock and achieve a nice look. I’m a big fan of the vellum though.
What you need to make this flower…
2 2″ red vellum or card stock circles
1 1/2″ yellow circle
8 3/4″ yellow card stock circles for the stamens. I used the stamen die from the Die-namics Prima Donna Petals die set.
Inks: black, green, Ranger Archival Plum or substitute with Red Geranium or Adirondack Cranberry.
Sponge Daubers
Quick Dry Liquid Glue
Scissors
Optional: Paper Molding Tools
Here is a step by step video tutorial for you on how I made my Poppy. I also made another poppy using white vellum and a slightly different center. The white one is also very pretty. You can Google POPPY and find amazing pictures for inspiration. I hope you go crazy and try these for yourself. Experiment and share the love. I’d love to see what YOU did with this design. Please send me a link of your flower in the comments!
